Hey all.

Currently I’m a BA that’s looking to move up through the ranks to Sr BA, PM, manager, director, up and up. I just earned my Greenbelt Six Sigma certification as my company uses that methodology. I was just sticking my head out here to see what people have to say about these certs/degree options. I would look at the CAPM first as it would fit my hour requirements, then gradually move into the PMP cert. But there is the thought about the MBA also. Overkill? Worth the time and money? Any feedback, worthwhile, would be great. Thanks!

. I never even heard of the PMP or CAPM: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPMĀ®) Credential. Maybe that’s a UK degree?
But everybody’s heard of a masters in Business. I would think that alone makes it more valuable. Just like the name ‘Oxford’ is more impressive than New York University.

I am PM in an US based manufacturing Company in India. I am planning to do PMP certification but i have only 20months of PM/PL experience, so now can i do CAPM then after 36months of experience i can apply for PMP. my question is CAPM certification now will help me to get a good job or should i wait till 36months the apply for pmp certification directly? i am Planning to change my company in 6 months.

Hi
I am a PMP and would say that PMP is the real thing.

CAPM can work but it would not be wonders. You can do it and it would give you confidence as to do PMP you require lots of experience.

So go for CAPM now and if the organizations sponsors (which they usually do) then it would be great.

All the best.

Do contact me for any help.

Thx

First, get out of Iran, or you might not survive when the U.S. defends itself in its next war.

Second, check out the Project Management Institute (see link below). Look at their Exam Locations & Scheduling to see what countries have test centers. You may have to drive or fly to another country. Or contact them and see if they make exceptions so you can take an online version of the certification.

Fact is, you really want to get out of Iran and live in an economically free country.

I just got my pmp certification last spring. You need 35 hours of project management training (exam prep class counts) and around 4,000 hours of actual project management experience to sit for the exam. First you need to fill out an application to sit for the exam through PMI. Once you are approved, you have one year to take the exam. I took a 2 day prep class and also did about 6 weeks of self study and passed. I highly suggest Rita Mulcay’s PMP exam prep book.

One needs to collect 60 PDUs in 3 years to retain the pmp certification.

This question is miscategorized.

Special Education refers to the education and parenting of children with special needs.
