I’ve been studying PMBOK for probably a year now. With all the inputs/outputs/tools and techniques for all the processes, that in and of itself is overwhelming. Is the test as difficult as the studying?
The test is tricky. So unless you really understand the materials, simply memorizing it wont help.

Hi Managers,
Is PMP certification really worth/ or relevant for infrastructure support stream guys like system administrators, dba, application ’support’ professionals?
I recently gone through the list of chapters in Rita’s book and seems that it is more for s/w development stream than any others. What do you say?
I want to appear for this exam since long time but then think if it is really worth for a system administrator? I already have done ITIL foundation certification because it was relevant. But PMP.. not sure.

Hi Mohan,
pmp certification is more beneficial to project managers, irrespective of the discipline they are from. Thus, it is as relevant to a construction project manager as to a software project manager . If you are going to manage projects now or in the future, PMP certification is a desirable addition to your resume. ITIL certificaion is certainly more relevant to your field of work but I would still advise you to complete your PMP certification, as well, especially since you want to go for it.
